Why Meditation?
With the fast paced hectic world of today. Manifested in various forms like buzzing alarms, continuous phone calls, caffeine addiction, lack of sleep. It is no wonder that the overall enjoyment and satisfaction of life has declined sharply. Even though the creature comforts that we are so used to come so easily now. If you are reading this blog, it means that you are a busy person. With a hectic life looking to find relief and rest from such a life. Meditation is a practice that can help you stay clear, calm and focused, even when you are put under stressful and demanding circumstances.
I understand what it is to go through a demanding life. Working a dead-end 9 to 5 job, having to take care of the kids, managing the boss and colleagues at the office. And feeling like you are completely spent and drained of energy. Filled with anxiety, fear, tension about the future, the mortgages, the kids educational budget, the upcoming recession and what have you. With such a demanding lifestyle, you might wonder whether a practice like meditation will work out for you, or whether you can sustain it.
What comes to your mind when you think about meditation?
A monk in a monastery surrounded by snow white mountains, rolling green valleys, sitting on a mat in an exotic pose in silence experiencing peace and relief from the bustling world all around him. And you would think that to have such an experience in the busy hectic world of yours is completely unattainable. And therefore you tend to push such a topic at the first instant. However, before you throw out the baby with the bath water, I want to tell you that you are not alone. And that there is hope for you. Meditation is applicable for you - a busy person. And you can use it to gain control over your life - right now!
But Why Meditation?
“You’ll be calm the day you learn to sit alone and do nothing.”
Of course, you can always go to a meditation retreat and spend a few days meditating with experts. And that is a great experience to have, but for most people, with their lives, that is just an impossibility. Getting leaves from the office is not for the fainthearted. I want to help such people through this blog. You can begin meditating right where you are with whatever you have available with you. Meditation is not about the props. If all you have is your breath, and I’m assuming you do, then you can begin meditating.
In this blog, I will be breaking down several meditational techniques and practices for you to get started with mindfulness and controlled breathing. These techniques will start from the ground up - I.e. from beginner level all the way up to expert level stuff. So that there is something for everyone that is reading the blog. I hope that through this blog, you and all of the other readers will be able to find peace of mind. And begin to experience life in the way that it is supposed to be.
And remember - no matter what, the sky is always blue. :)
